Aloha Bett York
Dec 1, 2018
As 2018 comes to a close, I want to say goodbye to an old friend and amazing artist, Bett York, who passed away on December 26, 2018. Bett was a Juried Artist with the Sonoran Arts League and many of you may know Bett from Art Unraveled in Phoenix where she taught Notan and Paperclay workshops. Her artwork and jewelry designs are big and bold, much like her personality! Her signature colors were black, white, and red (occasionally turquoise and yellow). Christmas and Valentines Day were her favorite holidays; can you say, "RED!"
Bett and I originally met many years ago at a wonderful mixed-media store in Gilbert called Ink-It!. We worked and traveled together, often taking day trips, and we loved to visit galleries and art venues. One of our early favorites was the Hidden in the Hills Open Studio Tour in Cave Creek-Carefree-North Scottsdale, Arizona. In fact, I was with Bett when I first met my current Hidden in the Hills Studio Host Robin Ray. Thank you for encouraging me Bett! Your enthusiasm and bright smile will be missed.
