shift

Dec 29, 2017

Shift gears, shift position, shift focus, shift priorities.

The word “shift” was presented to me several times during a recent 24-hour period and I viewed that phenomenon as confirmation to at least explore what the word “shift” might mean for me.

I immediately hand-embossed “shift” in pewter, mounted the piece on cradleboard, and placed it in a visually prominent spot in my studio. As soon as the artwork was completed, things started to shift... New invitations to teach locally and nationally; a shift in my current venue and teaching schedule; a shift in the type and complexity of my workshops; new venues; new tools. Even in the midst of the holidays, shifts were taking place!

This past year, student input has been fabulous as together we explored mixed media, bookbinding, metal embossing, and bead weaving (kumihimo). Y’all have been VERY supportive and encouraging and I appreciate YOU very much. Thank you for your patience as I shift gears and work to diversify and make my classes even more robust in 2018!
